With the broad scale availability of digital health information, quality measurement has evolved to take advantage of the rich clinical information contained within electronic health records. Quality measures are transforming from a paper-based format to a digital format. The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) is harnessing the power of digital measures by not only digitizing existing measures, but also creating measures built specifically for improving quality in a digital world. These new Electronic Clinical Data Systems (ECDS) measures source inputs from multiple data sources, making them more comprehensive and timely.
Executed on a clinical quality language (CQL)-enabled cloud platform like Apervita, these measures along with digital Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®) measures take significantly less time to build and run.
