Semantic Mapping

On Apervita, connectors bring data and analytics together. Connect different data sources, irrespective of schema, to many analytics using reusable reference tables, concept sets, value sets, and ontologies.

Instead of embedding data into analytics, they allow analytics and data to evolve separately and only be fused together at run time. This late-binding technique is very advantageous as it greatly simplifies the process of activating analytics with health data. Connectors provide the analytic with a simplified view of data, incorporating semantic meaning, while hiding the disparate nomenclature and structures of the source.

 Connector

       Description

 Reference Table

  • Create or import custom reference tables to link to algorithms.

 Concept Set

  • Build and maintain standard or custom concept sets (e.g. code sets).
  • Normalize facts with equivalent meaning.

 Value Set

  • Build and maintain standard or custom values sets.
  • Leverage value sets from standards bodies like VSAC.
  • Harmonize semantics and definitions between sites, systems, standards (e.g. SNOMED, ICD10).

 Ontology

  • Ontologies allow complex relationships to be represented and used to leverage relevant and up-to-date knowledge.
  • Traverse and subsume standard or custom ontologies from within analytics.
  • Leverage standard and proprietary ontologies at run-time or to build value sets.
